Nyssma violin level 6
My first year doing NYSSMA back in '95 (5th grade, ah the memories, lol), it was June. I don't know.every year NYSSMA get earlier and ealier for our area. being as you're trying out for that, im guessing you live in western suffolk or nassau? my friend from Dix Hills belonged to it before she moved out here to Gaum.er, Miller Place, heh. Neato, im from long island too.and ive heard of Gemeni. If you want to put stuff off, come to snowy Syracuse. If anyone has questions about what solos are on the list, e-mail me.Īuditions are at the end of May in Onondaga County. I have a photocopy of the current NYSSMA manual. I got a 98 on level 5 last year and I thought the sightreading was really easy, but the All State reading is probably a lot harder. The scales are a joke- only one octave at a very slow tempo. I'm also auditioning, with either the Finzi Concerto or the Stravinsky Three Pieces on clarinet and a Beethoven sonata on violin. Good Luck ! I have just All State and Gemeni auditions.
you are taking 3 All State auditions ? wow.
( my HS has an annunal cabret night, and my accompianist is playing for that ) so, I am really hoping that I will get a May 5th audition.īeth, I'm from Long Island. I am also signed up - I have a conflict with May 4. Check your solo with the current NYSSMA Manual.įear not.i have signed up and am all ready to go.now that the easy stuff is over with.time for the audition.or should i say auditionS.i think im crazy trying to do 3 all-state auditions. Get the specifics on what's required of you in the level 6 catagory. Get the details and be sure he/she signs you up before the deadline. PS- where in NY are you.long island, the city, upstate? Oh well.i'll live, good luck with the audition May 4th or 5th?! how i envy you! mine is March 30th or 31st. ( sure they schedule all state on the same day as SAT. I wasn't sure if it was different, of it you needed to know how many octaves on your scales or if you needed to know minor or dimished or any of that other ' fun ' stuff. Thanks - I am also playing the Mozart clarinet concerto. have you signed up yet? the auditions begin at the end of march and continue into april.when you go will be determined by where you live. and the the audition will end with sight reading. basically anything in the advanced clarinet repitiore will be in the NYSSMA manual, level 6.but check anyway.im doing the Mozart clarinet concerto.

for the solo you must select a solo from the NYSSMA manual - Level 6, and it must be preformed with a live or taped piano accomp. you must know all major scales, and the just will randomly pick 3 which you must play.

Then, a committee builds the ensembles from the state presidents’ ranked lists, trying to mimic the state population percentages in each group. Each of the state music educators associations in the Eastern Division (CT, DC, DE, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, PA, VT) oversee the selection process in their state and compile ranked lists of recommended juniors and seniors who participated in All-State festivals. More than 780 of the most musically talented high school students in the Eastern region of the United States have been selected to perform. Rachel will perform on flute with the All-Eastern Band, and is only the 2nd KLSD student to be chosen in nearly 20 years to receive this honor. In addition, Rachel has been selected to represent New York State at this year’s NAfME (National Association for Music Educators) All-Eastern Honors Ensembles performance on April 4-7, 2013 in Hartford, Connecticut. Congratulations to Rachel and Yanni on this outstanding accomplishment! Nearly 900 student musicians rehearsed day and night, which culminated in three wonderful performances at the historic Eastman Theater. The 77th NYSSMA All-State Annual Winter Conference was held in Rochester, New York on November 29 through December 2. Rachel performed on flute with the Wind Ensemble, and Yanni performed on violin with the Symphonic Orchestra. The Katonah-Lewisboro School District was proud to send Rachel Rodgers and Yanni Metaxas to this year’s All- State festival. The audition results are forwarded to a statewide selection committee and a proficiency list is generated, from which students are selected for All-State participation. Each spring, thousands of students audition a New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) level 6 solo for a rating from a certified judge.
